Its no longer some abstract event off in the distant future. It's just over a week away and its feeling more and more real by the minute. The 10k and 5k are less than 2 hours apart and the marathon starts less than 24 hours after the 5k... you would think because I've done 4 Ironman triathlons and countless numbers of other races I wouldn't be nervous for this but man oh man I feel Ultra loony going into this. LOOSEN UP THOSE HIPS
Today we're taking a look at improving the internal rotation of your hips. When we mobilize internal rotation, we want to do it from an ↙️extended position. Due to the shape of the ball and socket, coupling internal rotation with flexion often leads to you getting a bony block, and that's not something we want to stretch through.🙅♂️
Instead, we put ourselves into extension and give the joint freedom to move so that we can get into those soft tissues.
Freeing up this motion will make your hip feel less stiff so that you can move more comfortably.💃 I like to do 15 to 20 reps twisting the pelvis over towards the side we're working. Then walk around, squat, lunge, etc and see how your hip feels.
