🌱 Thinning seedlings? Eat 'em up! This was just the beginning of a tasty homegrown, home-raised, organic #gardentotable meal: scrambled eggs courtesy of Luna and Phoebe, served on top of various sauteed garden veggies and last winter's turnip green pesto (defrosted from the feeezer), topped with sweet habanada peppers and a pile of just-thinned radish and turnip sprouts 👌 #eatwhatyougrow
@deannacat3 yes, all is well! We were approved for a loan & almost bought a 6.6 acre property with a newly renovated modular home on Sunday. We decided against it after a night sleeping on it because I’ll be getting a promotion soon in the town we currently live in and this property was an hour commute each way to and from my work to the house. So I decided not to because I just can’t see myself being able to commute an hour at 3am, down those dangerous country roads, I gotta be practical although I want to move so bad! So although it killed me to turn down the offer, I know something closer that is better is waiting for us!

@theurbanladybug Yes, sounds like a good decision because, yuck, what a commute 😝 More time on the road only means mire time away from home, among many other drawbacks! But that's SO exciting that you're so close to being able to make the leap and live the dream, especially after all the b.s. you've gone through to get here! I'm sure happy for you, and congrats on the promotion!

@deannacat3 sorry not laying. 9 girls and maybe 2 eggs 😞

That’s a great idea. I always feel so guilty pulling them out . I usually give them to my chooks.

@mamabugjen they say thank you! Just Phoebe and Luna right now, but they lay about every day. The other two younger gals haven't started yet, and old Hennifer is on a molting break 😊
@soaustintx Two of our 5 are laying now... but I'm glad that is your plight, and not "not growing!" I was worried they had parasites or something!!!

@theurbanladybug Smart move refusing the offer. Long commutes on winding roads in the dark can literally kill you. We’ve got an 80-mile drive each way to our clients’ gardens, but it’s mostly freeway. We control our schedule and we never do it more than one day in a row, we always have a day to recover and restock between work days. Doing it every day would be dangerous.

you are amazing & i love all your posts!

@deannacat3 yes! I agree! I just knew if I had trouble driving the short commute I have now, that it would just be really dumb for me to commute even further. Also, I figured 10 hours a week I’ll be driving, that’s 10 less hours a week I’ll be spending on the homestead so that’s just not okay! And yes! We are so excited, but we know we need to be patient! i just know in my heart we will find something perfect if we do! Thank you so so much Deanna! Means so much to me to have your love and support! ❤️❤️❤️

@growitorganically yes! that was literally my exact thoughts! It’s just not worth the risk of not making it to work or home one day because of the commute. This particular road is a pretty scary one too and especially on rainy/foggy winter days. It’s just too risky and having to do it 5-6 days out of the week would just be out of the question, id exhaust myself!

Do those peppers get spicy? My kids love the sweet yellow and orange peppers that come pre bagged at the store. I'm trying to figure out what they are so we can grow them. We want sweet mini ones, not spicy.
