According to legend, "War Eagle"🦅—Auburn's battle cry—dates back to 1892. As the bull dogs 🐕 headed for the end zone 🏈 , a Civil War Veteran's 30-year-old pet eagle circled the playing field. Auburn's students and fan's, taking the bird's presence as an omen of success, began yelling "War Eagle", leading the team to a thrilling victory. At the end of the game, it's said that the eagle took a sudden dive, crashed into the ground, and died.
