"Decorating Golden rule: Live with what you love." -Unknown-
I confess I love my formal room because it feels regal and fancy. This is where I play the piano and teach piano lessons. It is the first room you see when you enter my house. It reminds me of things I love-antiques, being fancy, music and big mirrors. Do you have a favorite room? #glamorous#formalroom#pianoteacher#musicispower#decoratingthehouse#dowhatyoulove

This room, that used to be our living room, is now a multipurpose space we use for home-schooling, entertaining, and can be a makeshift office when needed. That antique Belgian table & it’s chairs from the 1930s were a purchase we made at an auction gallery just before we moved into this house; we were coming off a recent trip to Italy & were influenced by all the heavy carved wood elements we saw while staying in beautiful old hotels and touring museums.
I’m a huge fan of mixing modern, vintage & antique elements in my home. I’m very nostalgic & love embracing the character & story of eras gone by while also staying up-to-date in current trends. Most of the time, current trends reflect the past in some way....I could say a lot more about this, but I will spare you 😉😂. It’s my nerdy side that gets excited about these contrasts! 🤓
This year I plan on tackling several interior home “decor” projects. I have several blank walls begging for the commitment of a small hole due to new artwork. In the meantime, I have been searching for months for new house numbers. I wanted something that would be classy and pop. None of the traditional numbers spoke to me until I saw the handmade tiles by Ravenstone Tiles (they also have an Etsy shop) featured in a dated This Old House blog post. I just received this handmade tile and it’s just as I imagined it. I can’t wait to drill the holes on the siding above the new mailbox (which also took months to commit to, LOL). Finally the delivery person can find our home in the dark. 🏠
