Are you having pain 😩 in the front of your knee? _____________________________________________________________
Anterior knee pain is a common problem with a wide variety of causes. One ☝️ of the most common causes of anterior knee pain is patellar tendinitis. Patellar tendinitis is commonly referred to as jumper’s knee for the high occurrence of this injury in basketball 🏀, volleyball 🏐, and other sports requiring repetitive jumping. _____________________________________________________________
Typically athletes will complain of dull aching pain at rest located at the insertion of the patellar tendon. This pain typically increases in intensity with jumping or running 🏃 _____________________________________________________________ Treatment:
Patellar tendinitis is an OVERUSE injury and the best initial treatment is rest!!! 😴
After you have rested for a few and the pain has diminished you can start fixing the problem!
1. Begin with a light low-impact warm up 5-10 mins on a stationary bike 🚲. If this reproduces your pain try elevating the seat to reduce the amount of knee flexion.
2. Stretch your quads, calfs, hamstrings, and hip flexors (3x30sec each).
3. Strengthen the quad: start simple with 2x10 body weight squats focusing on the lowering phase (eccentric phase). If those are easy and pain-free move on to lunges 3x10. Progress these slowly each day by adding reps or weight while being careful not to add too much and cause pain!
4. Limit pain and swelling: apply an ice ❄️pack for 15-20 mins after your exercises.

Mina's kindness and sunny attitude brought warmth and compassion to our team, and her great work helping launch our new staff role of Health Education Coordinator really demonstrated the potential for this position. Never shy about helping any other staff member and able to effortlessly connect with our patients and local friends across vast cultural gulfs, Mina has been instrumental in helping maintain the 'corporate culture' of family and closeness that is not just desirable but absolutely necessary for our team to function effectively in such challenging circumstances.

Growing up, it was always hard for my mom to spend time with us. My mom worked the night shift as a neonatal intensive care unit nurse. She would work long 12 hour shifts, coming home exhausted. By the time she arrived home, we were already out of the house and at school. She'd sleep during the day just to recover, get up to head to work later that evening as we were coming back from school - doing it all over again. She did this at two different hospitals - weekends off were a rarity. She sacrificed a lot for my sister and I to give us the opportunities that we have today.
Today, we get to celebrate her (almost) retirement! Her official last day will be on December 29th, adding a couple more weeks to all the service she has given in the healthcare field: -37 years of shedding tears for those premature babies who would not make it
-1,924 weeks of holding babies in her arms as if they were her own
-144,300+ hours of love she shared with each infant and their concerned parents
-Millions of miles walked on her feet; endless amount of IVs inserted; hundreds of babies who were able to finally breathe and eat on their own because of her... I'll always be a proud mama's boy and I've never looked up to someone more in my life than this beautiful woman. I hope that one day I can come close in emulating all of the love, devotion, sacrifice she was able to give as a nurse, as these qualities are truly a reflection of who my mom is as a person. I love you very much mom. Well deserved retirement, it's time to finally put your feet up. .

I was scrolling through my Instagram when I came across this picture and immediately thought of DeAnna.
I've known DeAnna nearly my entire life. Throughout our childhood we would drift in and out of each other's lives, typically running with different circles of friends. Regardless, there was always an unspoken bond and loyalty between us, one that came to fruition when we were on our senior trip and I needed someone by my side. Without hesitation, she was that person.
When I was at a different school my first semester of college and fell into a depression because the people I thought cared just didn't, she was there.
I always thought that I was a good friend and those around me were good friends as well. None of that was true though, and I know that because DeAnna taught me true, pure, unconditional friendship. We have been through everything together, we have become adults together, and we've taught each other how to be kind and honorable women.
There is nothing but love and respect in our friendship. I am so proud to have a woman like her in my tribe. I hope every single one of you find a friend like DeAnna♥️
At #SJH we provide more than health, we give you peace of mind and happy feelings. #OBGYN#Newark

SACRED TIP: Kefir is an ancient fermented milk product used worldwide & is one of the highest probiotic foods you can eat. Kefir increases beneficial gut flora & boosts immunity, builds bone strength, supports digestion & gut issues, helps fight cancer, improves allergies, aids skin issues & improves lactose intolerance symptoms. Kefir can be made with cows milk, goat, sheep or dairy-free with coconut milk. I use a organic sheep milk as there is less casein & it’s easier to digest. It’s simple & inexpensive to make...in a large glass jar mix approximately 4 tablespoons of kefir grains & 1 litre of milk of choice, with a wooden spoon. Cover with a coffee filter & elastic. I use cloth from an old t-shirt. Leave on the counter to ferment for 2-3 days stirring occasionally. Then pour through a plastic strainer. I drain some of the water & save for smoothies. Contact One Big Table on St. Paul for excellent quality kefir grains/starter kits. Add kefir to smoothies, soups, baking or take by the spoonful. 💕

We offer the following services to ensure the care of comfort of your loved one.
Hey FL senators @marcorubiofla & @senatorbillnelson 👋🏽! Your favorite pediatric resident here 😉. See that pretty hospital in the background? That’s where I get to provide care to ALL kids, including those covered by Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). It has been about two months since Congress failed to extend funding for CHIP. As the days and weeks pass after the deadline, millions of children and families are left with more uncertainty about whether they will be able to access the health care they rely on. It shouldn’t take children losing access to health insurance to get Congress to act. Today, again, we as pediatricians are speaking out as a unit. #ExtendCHIP and keep 9 million kids covered.
"‘Self care’ is such a trendy little term at a time when the 1% is setting to tax the 99%, and strip their health care in the process. But: taking care of yourself, yes. It’s never been more important." ~ @waylonlewis 🙏 In this Photoshop Culture, there is a tonic, or antidote, to wanting to be other than we are. It’s called maitri.
