They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world: someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for.

A view forever etched in my mind, just like a leech sucking blood on its prey... It’s 5 days ‘til my birthday, and I haven’t made any plans yet. In 2015, I took this wonderful roadtrip to Arizona and Utah for my Thanksgiving and Birthday getaway. Last year, I visited Japan 🇯🇵 for the first time ever. This year, I need to break the pattern, so I’m just gonna stay in LA and go with the flow. Growing up, as I was starting puberty, my body mass did not keep up with height growth. And with a metabolism that’s exceptionally fast as the speed of light, that explains why I’m always sexy as hell 😂. My thinking brain operates in various ways. Mostly, it can overspeed through the highway like the speed of a bullet, especially on things or activities that interest me. Sometimes, it can be slower when I see a police car approaching. Or, it can go-round a round-about over and over when it just wants to wander around. My hyperactivity sometimes is unpredictable. I got to love Hiking and Travel when I realized it helps me with anxiety. I know you guys are sick of my travel throwbacks, but it makes me happy to reminisce those wonderful memories. I have been to several places and I still have a million mile to go, but this view on top of the granite rock in Rio de Janeiro took my breath away. It has all the elements - Earth🌏, Wind💨, Water💦 and me with a Heart❤️ that’s always on Fire🔥, so I’m gonna call my fellow Planeteers so we can form Captain Planet 😂😜🤣. I am thankful everyday I continue to exist on this Planet, and for family and friends for giving me good vibes.
Great heights and full hearts can often be found in the same place. 💕 This week @whoa_wo_joe is in #colorado for his annual hunting trip with the guys... so of course I’m spending the week wishing I was in the #mountains too. This is my #tbt to #mountantero. This rock field is the last big push before the summit. When this photo was taken, I was definitely ready for my summit beer and some skittles. Taking time to look back on #hiking pictures from this summer makes me smile, what wonderful times I’ve had with my head in the clouds.
Sometimes we need that little extra help to get us where we're going, to get over that hurdle, to be motivated to do more than we think we can. Don't be afraid to seek help when needed, for anything in life. Real courage is in recognizing this and acting upon it. Here's the story of our friend Amy (@hittheroadmap) ⬇:
"Real proud of this shorty right here. My mom is extremely afraid of heights, like paralyzed from the height of stairs.. And she hiked Mount Dorr. Proving that you’re never too old to push yourself to overcome fears and that sometimes it’s okay to let go of control to let someone help push you past them too." - via @hittheroadmap // #PeopleWhoHike
Although I've kept my IG page only devoted to my hikes (besides the occasional off the wall story or poll), I'd like to share a few personal, non-hiking related things about me:
I am a California boy, born and raised in SoCal. I currently live in San Diego.
I am left-handed
I am an introvert, and a very private person, so getting on social media was scary and a very big deal for me. I did it at first to reconnect with old family and friends (fb), and then to be inspired and share my hiking story with others like me (ig)
I have a big sweet tooth, with ice cream being my biggest weakness. I usually have 2 or 3 different flavors in my freezer at any given time. There's always room for ice cream. Always.
Although I'm not as big of a couch potato as I used to be, I still like to watch TV. My favorite shows are The Walking Dead and Survivor.
I have slight OCD with certain things, but not as bad as before. I used to set 3 alarm clocks to make sure I would wake up in the morning on time. Now I just set 1. I still check all my locks at least 3 times, including the car doors while I'm driving.
