Went for a walk and saw the sunflowers 🌻 waving at me. Just lovely.

Today, I used "The Five Second Rule" to get over my excuses and take action. It was noon and I thought, "I should workout." Instead of allowing myself to talk me out of it, I did it, without thinking. Because I have my workouts where I am at the push of a play button, I was able to start my day one right then and there.

I couldn't be happier with my little fireplace project I did at the shop today. Stranded without a car, I managed to use what I had on hand here. It consisted of #woodencrates that nobody seems to want to buy anymore, that have been driving me crazy. Stacked and covered with a few stray #fenceboard pieces, I was able to give myself #extrastoragespace now with those same crates. A mantel and #chairrail parts finished it off to a state of #adorableness#goldnails for some added bling and hanging hooks and I'd say it's complete. All in all, it took me about 3 hours, didn't cost me a penny, today anyways ;) and now not only do I have #ambiance but I have #heat as well 🔥🔥🔥
And to top it off, my package of #vintagetrophies showed up just in time from @ittybittyvintageshop , so of course they got #centerstage
Well, that's what I pulled off today with no money, no car and 2 tools 😉 what did you do today?

Confession time. I have only worked five times since our wedding. So over a month. I have noticed my lack of discipline in exercise affecting my discipline when it comes to getting work done. With everything I will accomplish, I can’t afford to take it easy in my health and nutrition. So today is day 1/21 of a meal plan and 30-min workouts at home. 💪🏼
Does anyone else worry about this, or is it just me? Can Amazon run for president of the United States? I honestly feel like Amazon will single handily shut down every small town in America and robots will be packaging boxes to be delivered to your front doors, where 1/2 are stolen by out of work individuals who are homeless and can't feed their families. What has happened to the enjoyment of the hustle and bustle of finding that perfect gift, not gifts but gift?! I want the memories of 10 years ago back. The little shops and the quaint towns where you would go and spend the entire day... I just want to wake everyone up and say "look, look, look what's happening" 😢😢😢😢😢 Everyone go into your small towns this week and spend $25 at a little shop (booze and food don't count) Idk care what it is but do it to save America!!!
Its time to be patriotic at Christmas .
What an afternoon at our farm! Today we held our last workshop of 2017, making wreaths inside our greenhouse with an amazing group of people! Swipe to see our group shot.
A propane heater kept us warm, snow covered the greenhouse for a festive feel, and me enjoy hot chocolate and treats from the @warkworthbakery . And we created together. And it was amazing.
Everyone left with a gorgeous wreath for their front door, and a smile on their face. 🌲
Truth behind the pretty pictures:
Hosting can be scary. We had two last minute cancellations after we had already purchased all of the supplies, the temperature was cooler today (and no sunshine!) than we were hoping for working in the greenhouse, we couldn't find the extension cords to have the hot chocolate HOT on time. And I'm not a natural teacher (total introvert here!) so teaching a group can be intimidating. 🌲
More truth: None of that mattered. Friends showed up to fill spaces, the the hot chocolate was ready when we needed a Mid workshop warm up, my husband lent us his propane heater, and as I lead I watched other attendees help each other as we created these wreaths. And it was all pretty magical. I didn't get a wreath finished at the workshop, but I made sure everyone else did and by the end we all had a creation we were proud of.
And really, that's Christmas right? Letting go of expectations, creating new traditions, making handmade items together, enjoying simple moments, adorning our doors with fresh boughs.
I'm so grateful to everyone who made today special.
Thank you @borntofarm_ for holding down the farmstand and looking after our customers and thank you @taniakolesni.k for these photos and for just generally being a gem. ❤️
17 (that’s right seventeen!) years ago this month Down to Earth opened just a few doors down from our location today.
We are so thankful for our amazing customers. Thank you for liking what we do, and for all of your support over the years. And a big, huge thank you to our incredible team. Their dedication, kindness and creativity is what allows this place to thrive.
This small business can be really challenging and really uplifting all at the same time and being surrounded by great people makes it all worth it.
Looking forward to 18 and beyond!
