Thanks to Gwen Manthey (WUDPAC-Paintings-2011) for sharing this wonderful image! She says, "Conservation staff at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Renwick Gallery tend to David Hockney's 'Snail Space with Vari-Lites' for gallery maintenance and to perform a condition check. Visitors were able to see the work with full lighting as maintenance continued during visiting hours, the piece is normally lit with filtered visible and ultraviolet light." PAST AND PRESENT STUDENTS: Please continue to share your experiences in the field! We are ALL so curious about the work you are doing! #udartcons

One of my earliest and most detailed murals is being professionally restored!! 🙌🏽 I'm amazed and humbled by the dedication of this pro team of art conservators: usually busy with fixing murals in Egyptian tombs, Indian royal palaces, or frescoes in Italy, they are currently working to conserve my Market St. Railway Mural in San Francisco! 😮🙏🏽 .
THANK YOU art conservators Samantha Emmanuel (left); intern from University of Malta, Helene Nuland from Norway (right); as well as the amazing Kiernan Graves! .
Check their progress at @msrconservation! .
Btw, seriously worth checking out the artistry of their meticulous process: see monacaron.com/msrm for an info link to a page that explains the process (and where u can support the undertaking if so inclined :) )
