This Tennessee girl is moving to Portland, Oregon! I’ll be joining the Preventive Cardiology group at OHSU as a Postdoctoral Fellow. Excited for this new adventure and can’t wait to watch the Vols lose from West coast
🛑 A good harness saved Tidus’s life! Read more below and watch the @huskysquad harness review video in profile ☝️☝️
. 💙 During the most recent trip, Tidus was exploring the edge of a nice size creek to drink water. Covered by bushes I was waiting with my camera in hand so I can take a beautiful majestic picture of him when he walks towards me.
Suddenly I hear a soft splash in the water and my instinct told me to run and check on him. I get there. Tidus was holding on with one front paw on the edge, his entire body being swept by the current, and his face was almost completely submerged in the gushing water...
I dropped everything and I was ready for anything. My quick instinct to get him out of the creek was to grab the handle on top of the harness. I couldn’t see the harness at all because he was almost fully underwater, but I knew it was within reach. I lunged forward from the edge of the creek and dove my arm down deep into the water to pull him out. The handle on his harness was in my hands within seconds and I pulled Tidus to safety. I had a good feeling it was going to work and it actually did! The water edge was much deeper than it looked...
We’ve always liked having a handle on a harness because of general convenience and when dogs are out on the trails, but now after what happened with Tidus, we realize how important it really is. .
Since that day - Tidus has been extra cautious when approaching creeks and rivers to drink water. Dogs learn incredibly fast, just like Kimahri learned not to jump off cliffs without a parachute 😆 ...but that’s a story for another day. .
🤫 We have an EPIC video from this camping trip coming this Tuesday morning! 😍
