You may have noticed that we have paper cranes hanging all throughout our house. They add an unexpected pop of color and whimsy that is absolutely delightful! Well, now you can enjoy them as well! Alexandra has been folding and stringing paper cranes by the dozens in hopes of raising money to put towards the purchase of a car. If you would like to buy one of her paper crane garlands simply visit my Etsy shop (link in profile). Thank you so very much!

By Jessica Rinaldi/Globe Staff -- Rie Hara, of Worcester, places paper cranes into cork board as part of "Cranes on the Square at Copley Square" an event held yesterday to commemorate the Sixth Anniversary of the Great Northeast Japan Earthquake and Tsunami that struck Japan in 2011. #papercranes#copleysquare#anniversary#cranes#origami
Zachy got his first tattoo. I did a paper crane because one of my favorite books growing up that my mom and I read was "Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes." In this book Sadako was diagnosed with leukemia at age 12, and was inspired by the Japanese legend that if you make 1000 of them, you're granted one wish. Her wish, was to live. When my mom got diagnosed with cancer, I made a thousand paper cranes. Her 6 weeks, turned into 8 years. I know it was her will and determination that pulled out the 8 years, but this symbol will be a reminder of her. As well as many other memories.
I have no idea who's been leaving these cranes around the coffee shop, but they make me smile every time I see them. #origami#papercranes#art
