This was my chest workout today. Pretty simple. Today I worked in the 12-4 rep range in a descending pyramid.
One thing to remember is working chest can be very hard on the shoulder. Be nice to your shoulders with some of my tips below.
I like to do dumbbell pressed because of my previous history of anterior shoulder pain (front of shoulder). I found that with barbell bench you put much more stress on the biceps tendon and AC joint.
I try to mix in something plyometric each workout to improve my power.
When doing chest fly I avoid bringing my hand behind my body to limit the stress on the anterior shoulder.
When performing dips remember to make sure to pull your shoulders back as your elbows bend to avoid excessive forward shoulder leverage, which stress the anterior shoulder.
I added in a pulley version of internal and external rotation of the shoulder. These work on the rotator cuff muscles, which help to stabilize the shoulder and reduce the risk of injury when working chest. I do these two exercises frequently and have seen major benefits in my shoulder health.

Baby steps but it’s all in the right direction 🤙🏾 those closest to me know that I have been having foot injuries one after the other (once one side comes right the other side blows up) safe to say that after 3 weeks of being sidelined I am finally moving again. Friday trails walk/jog at mt cootha 🙌 as my swim run buddy @ms_lindsay shared with me the other day “don’t compare your chapter 1 with someone else Chapter 20” 👏👊🏼

Tomorrow is my Birthday, which makes today Birthday Eve. I’m celebrating by signing up for the Mountains 2 Beach marathon! I’ve heard so many great things about this race. It’s beautiful, it’s fun, it’s DOWNHILL!! I loved the San Diego Marathon, but it was super hilly and had a massive hill miles 22-24, which was tough. I’ll looking forward to declining elevation and a nice beach finish in May 2018!!

A little snow in the forrest. Time to play! 🤘On the top it was already really good snow. I did my 30km not at 5:00am! I was way too tired ! 😂 But I was still the first and only person on the trail ! 😊🙌 30km in 4:18 min./km with nearly 1000m of climbing in the snow. Last 1000m downhill in 3:01 minutes! I am happy with that. 🤙

It’s so fun having hubby home but definitely going to go a little stir crazy! We are supposed to get snow until 5 pm tonight and sure doesn’t make it easy to run! Thankful that we are both home so we can tag team our runs! .
Hubby got started early with his workout and then I got in my 50 minutes easy. This cycle I am doing 2 days of recovery between workouts because my workouts are faster and take more out of my body. Tomorrow I’ve got another big one so focused on true recovery again today! 👟🏃🏼♀️
