Absolute carnage at today’s event.
My training plan had me down to do a sub-40 10k, so the easiest (and cheapest) was Abingdon near Oxford. When I set off it was raining - but as I kept driving, the rain turned to sleet, then snow, and I arrived to find it had settled. The race was still going ahead, and was meant to start on the track, before then going for 3 laps around a park. They changed it to 9 laps of the track, then 6 laps of a smaller park route. I’m not sure why they didn’t just get us to do 25 laps of the track, because as soon as we entered the park we realised it was going to be a mud bath. The whole 6 remaining laps were mostly on grass and people were slipping and falling all over the place, so I was trying to go as quick as I can, without also breaking my leg. 🤣. Anyway, it was a bit of a shame I couldn’t put all the training I’ve been doing to use, and post a really quick 10k time - but given the conditions I’m still pretty pleased coming in 13th 🤗. #instarun#instarunners#run#running#runner#RunNerd#runfast#stravarun#garmin#runfit#runningfeet#runnerscommunity#runningcommunity#runnersofinstagram#ukrunchat#runchat#time2run#runhappy#brooks#workout#exercise#marathontraining#marathon

Fabulous weather for ducks...
More than anything today I needed my therapy. For 2 days my black dog has led me a merry dance and I was quite frankly feeling crap...a smile.can hide a multitude of sins including frustration. Jugling a home life, a professional life and marathon training is hard and this weekend I've felt it. Tonight's run was about miles...fast/slow/walk or crawl...it didn't matter just miles. Today was the slowest I've ran for a long long time but it worked. I was angry in the first mile, frustrated by mile 3, calming down by 5 and content by 7...I out ran that black dog that had tried to take a hold!! Screw you depression. 😁
Not only did the miles calm me by mile 5 I was half way through one if the best songs ever written by @alterbridge ...Blackbird
🎶Let the wind carry you home
Blackbird fly away
May you never be broken again🎶
Today I wobbled, today I struggled but today I won! Celebrate your story, be honest with your story and inspire with your story...I am determined never to be broken again!! Have an ace night instafriends; tomorrow we go again...No regrets

H.S. SOPHOMORE KATELYN TUOHY DESTROYS THE 5K NATIONAL RECORD AT VIRGINIA SHOWCASE
In what is possibly the greatest high school performance I have ever witnessed, Katelyn Tuohy pulverized both the indoor and outdoor 5,000-meter records with her 15:37.12 clocking on Saturday afternoon. The records belonged to Brie Oakley (15:55.75i), who ran the record and New Balance Indoor Nationals last spring, and Mary Cain (15:45.46), who set her mark in 2013 while just a junior.
This is certainly within her capabilities, after seeing Tuohy clock a 9:05.46 3K just weeks ago, which suggested 15:36 was possible but not at all expected. Her intermediate split of 9:54.28 for 3200m is the 5th fastest indoor time in H.S. history.
In next month’s Millrose Games, Tuohy will be competing in the girls mile with a goal of running a sophomore class record and breaking 4:40. Since she has the second best 1500m time for a freshman (4:18.51, after Cain’s 4:17.98), I fully expect her to do it.

#gbtcinvitational 3k - 8.52
Happy to finally get this year rolling with a solid rust buster and Arthur's first track meet at #harvard this morning. Felt great to lace up the spikes and spin the wheels it my first ever 3k. Can't really hang with this these middle distance boys, but heck, I'll try!.
*asleep the whole race. 👶💤💤
I’m beyond excited to be part of the @tifosioptics 2018 Ambassador team!! What better way to celebrate getting my first pair in the mail than a long run?? Ran 10 miles today with the black, polarized Marzen style (not pictured) and was completely satisfied☀️😎. They didn’t budge on my face the entire 90+ minutes👏🏼🏃🏽♀️. I highly recommend checking this company out if you are a biker, golfer, fellow runner, or just an active person looking for extra eye protection 🕶. Be creative and build your own pair at tifosioptics.com/custom. Happy Sunday friends!! ☀️🍃

Merthyr Mawr Christmas Pudding Race - 21/01/18(!).
What a fantastic race this was, very challenging Terrain in very tough conditions. It had it all! It was just over 10.5km, but without doubt the toughest 10k terrain I’ve faced. A HUGE sand dune (Europe’s biggest apparently, I’m not going to argue), LOTS of boggy fields & plenty of mud the entire way, a long section of beach, loads of gates to go through which didn’t exactly help, and a number of river crossings/huge ice cold puddles to contend with! These has a bonus of actually washing you off, so I finished this fairly clean, but freezing cold 😆
This years was taking place in January as the date in December was postponed but it still had a Christmas theme. This was their 28th year of the race but the first time for the alternative route which was almost a mile more than the previous route, and much tougher too. I’ll be back to do this again in December, what a great race 👍

New blog, harassment and running update (link in bio) 💚 In 2017 I spoke to you all about my feelings on harassment and running. I was adamant something needed to be done. I still am. A year on I've met with @sportscotland_ and @policescotlandofficial, I've learnt when to admit I'm wrong and that things aren't always straightforward. This issue isn't simple, and I don't think the solution is going to be. All explained in my update below, as always, any thoughts on all of this issue are welcome💚 #harassment#runningcommunity#sportcommunity
My view from the track today. Yeah, the track, like for running. I RAN TODAY. It’s been 5 long months of healing and patience. Granted it was a light 1 minute jog for every 3 minutes of walking, but it’s a start. And this injury has surely taught me to slow down and be smarter about listening to my body. Progress not perfection, always.

8 recovery miles at an easy pace of 8:27/mile was just what I needed for today’s Sunday runday! 🏃🏻♀️ I’m always tempted to speed up but keeping easy days easy is so important!

Don’t think of them as Hill( think of them as ‘mounds of opportunity.’ .
⛰⛰⛰⛰⛰ ⛰⛰⛰⛰ .
Really nice to be back at the hills last night . I love the club runs, running in a group always makes me push that bit more & the fact that our coach chases us up and down the hills shouting at us 😂 to give that bit more really gets you emptying the tank !! When the going got tough I just tried to hold on telling myself to dig in that bit deeper as I’ll need this extra level come April 22nd .
. 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻 .
4:66 miles of hideous, dark, sleety hills of torture last night with my darling sis @dle001 & a great bunch of AA running buddies 💜 & let me tell you it feels GREAT to be back on them !! Happy hump day 🙌🏻 #hilltraining#hills
