It’s Thanksgiving break 🤗 As part of Humanism in Medicine’s November Random Act of Kindness, we held a writing station for thank you cards to fellow students, faculty, and staff this week. Had no idea Monday was World Kindness Day until a classmate told me 😳. It was a lot of fun spreading love and support to all on campus. There’s something about telling others just how much you appreciate them✨
When we think of kindness, most of us think of deeds we can do for others. However, we should also remember to be kind to ourselves. Self-care is not selfish. We cannot be our best self if our battery is low. Take time to be with family. See friends you haven’t seen in a few months. Exercise and cook healthy delicious food for a healthy body. Laugh until you feel your abs hurting. Get into an excited mindset to study and add new knowledge to your brain. These are some things I look forward to this break and I intend to be fully present in all activities 🙏🏼
One of my favorite things about oils is all of the fun blending! For self care and love this was fantastic during my little chill time with my self! Not a long time but it's the most successful I have been with it - I have gone 4 days of waking up early in the morning and working out and then coming home and making food before heading to work at 9AM as well as getting 8 hours of sleep a night - took some planning and some sacrifice but it's worked so today I went out to breakfast to celebrate my personal victory @evenstevenssandwiches and did some #journalling - long way to go but feeling better with this new challenge. #selfcare#utah
Its not always easy to give your body the care it needs.
I’ve gone months without washing, weeks without brushing my teeth, weeks without brushing my hair and days without seeing sunlight.
Sometimes selfcare isn’t as straight forward as taking a bath or putting on a face mask... it can be complicated and tough. Sometimes selfcare means allowing yourself to stink so bad that your eyes water so you can help sort through your mind and sometimes it’s simply keeping yourself alive for a period of darkness.
Im finding it hard to love my body right now. It’s hard to love a body that’s trying to destroy itself, i hate it right now and that’s perfectly ok. I’m pushing on and trying to keep that connection to my body by washing it and hugging it gently.
What have you done for selfcare today? I’m proud of you for making it through today.
Selfcare isn’t always bubble baths and candles (but sometimes it bloody is and it feels damn good)🤙🏻👊🏻.

Le body positive n’est pas un mouvement de « laisser aller » 😂 quand je lis du fat shaming en mode « ces vilains gros vont pouvoir être rassurés par les bourrelets des autres et manger des chips en paix » 🤯
Déjà il n’y a pas de vilains gros, il n’y a que des vilaines personnes et puis en disant ce genre de phrase clairement les gens sombres du mauvais côté de la force 😅
Je vois bien quelques souci à l’horizon quand on se nourri mal, de très grave souci même, mais à aucun moment ces perspectives ne me donne envie de me moquer, de me sentir supérieure ou de me réjouir du sort de ces personnes 😯
Bien manger c’est aussi important que respirer, si seulement on pouvait aider les gens à le comprendre? Ah mais je suis bête on peut! En en parlant et en montrant l’exemple, pas en stigmatisant les gens 😬
Mention spéciale à ceux qui font la moral « au gros qui se laisse aller » et qui mettent une photo de leur mac do du dimanche sur snap en mode « récompense de mes efforts » ils faudrait savoir si on se bats pour sa santé ou son apparence 🤥 car dans un cas il est pas souhaitable de faire la promo du domac, dans l’autre faut assumer que l’apparence est la priorité de leurs vie et dans ce cas il faut pas reprocher au gens de manger des chips il faut directement leur dire « tu es gros donc je vaux mieux que toi » .

Je suis body positive activiste et je respecte les modes de vie des gens, même si ce n’est pas le mien, bien sûr qu’on veut le bonheur des gens, mais le bonheur c’est pas un truc qu’on vous fourre au fond de la gorge de force, c’est un chemin que l’on doit prendre soit même, alors arrêtons de dire aux autres ce qui est le mieux, à la place on pourrait juste exprimer sans forcing ce qui marche pour nous, sans jugement, sans moqueries, sans rabaisser des êtres humains sur notre passage 🤭
