The fortifications of Gibraltar have made the Rock of Gibraltar and its environs "probably the most fought over and most densely fortified place in Europe, and probably, therefore, in the world", as Field Marshal Sir John Chapple has put it. #walkwithmegibraltar@walkthroughgibraltar
💙 Japan Airlines offers a masterclass in how to build a first class wine list
Even carriers who can’t swallow a $375 bottle of bubbly can provide a limited-stock premium option with a backup choice if it runs out or for those passengers who prefer something else. Home country wines, or even those with a link to their nationality, are a plus. Other premium options widen the field too — and a nose (and a tongue) for wines that will work well at altitude is a must. Japan Airlines can be proud of its work in all of these areas.
Sedona in all its splendor! I wrote up a post and shared our favorite hikes as well as a link to the house we stayed in that we loved. (Link in profile or google: Kristen Duke Sedona)
I got to hike to the saddle of Cathedral Rock with just my boys, and I felt pretty special that both of their strong hands were reaching out to me to pull me up in the challenging spots. Man, my heart bursts with love for them. It's so fun to watch them grow up in maturity, taller than me, and make decisions about their life. I heard recently that this stage is often referred to as the decade of decisions. So many choices they're making in these years that will chart the course of their life.
I balled my eyes out yesterday as I watched the most recent episode of This Is Us where the son blamed his mom for giving him the least amount of attention (of his siblings), and she burst out crying to him that it was because he pushed away her hugs, so she let him have his Independence. I remember doing the same thing to my mom, and I've been waiting for payback. I've somehow lucked out so far that these boys allow me hug them, and wait for me to let go. Anyone else get their heart pricked with that TV show moment?
I know that it's not the same for everyone, and I really believe that they come with such unique personalities, we have to do the best with what we are given. My mom did, she let me have the space that I desired, and patiently waited for me to come around. If you've got a teen that is giving you a hard time, just love, love, love. Offer a back scratch, take them out for a favorite treat, don't give up. #capturingjoywithkristenduke#sedonahiking#visitsedona
🌍Do you have a family travel adventure that you are planning this year?
Reasons to visit Aruba: flamingos. 15 years ago a flamboyance of flamingos made their home on the Renaissance Private Island, living on the beach and mingling with visitors.
