Did you know that roughly 1.4 BILLION pounds of litter ends up in the ocean each year? Isn’t that insane? Let’s make a resolution to do a little better. Let’s keep our wild places wild. Let’s keep neature neat. #wildkeepers#wherethewildkeepersare
Know your truth.
I'm always itching to be on the road. Late last week, I got in the Subaru...and I didn't stop driving until I ended up in Moab, Utah.
Here's what happened: I went in to work for a few hours that morning in Montana, then I did some driving and that night, I fell asleep out on public land in the desert with my friends.
I covered a lot of ground on this trip. I know a lot of people question why I'm willing to drive so far for a relatively short amount of time...the best answer I've got right now is that being on the road is just a part of who I am.
Good, bad or indifferent: I have no intention of pulling bricks out of my foundation.

So many arches here - I stopped counting when my fingers froze.
I’ve been working on this book for over three years. “I love rain clouds and dirty dishes. I love the quick wit and sharp tongue of a person whose heart is wounded. I love muddy swimming holes and the way a field of garlic smells in the heat of summer. I love wet, messy hair without a chance to put on makeup. I love the sigh of sadness, then just enough liquor that the muscles in one’s face grow tired from smiling. I love tiny white alyssum blossoms that smell like sugar and stately tulips dancing in the breeze. I love grandpa’s leaky row boat. I love dreams. I love people who pursue dreams. I love letters written with a pen. I love the coo of a mourning dove from its nest in the eve of the porch. I love sweating, calloused hands, and overcooked steak. I love reading chairs and coffee with grounds in it. I love that chickens hide under trees when a hawk flies overhead. I love fits and furies. I love the insecurity of someone so fascinating they have no business being insecure. I love grit.” #livefolk#liveauthentic#thisamericandream#utahisrad#thekitchn#myopenkitchen#EEEEEATS#foodie#goodeats#slowfood#farming#farmer#agriculture#swagriculture#feedtheworld#edenvalley#seedthefuture#utfarmbureau100years#homegrown#eatlocalutah

Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. Southwest Utah. (37.034966,-112.735408).
$20/night for dry camping, which includes the $8 park entrance fee. Campground spots are pretty tightly packed together, and it's and OHV area, so it can get noisy. Not sure if I'd want to stay here when it's busy, but it is open year-round, with hot showers, a dump station, potable water, and trash service. All of which I took liberal advantage of. Fairly close to Zion NP, and Kanab, UT if you're going for The Wave lottery. No cell service. 2.5/5.
snow / snjór. ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️ The only thing missing from this perfect scene are the northern lights. 😉 Truly though, SLC is extra stunning tonight after our 24 hour snowfall. Everything is so quiet and still. I can’t stop staring out my window. 😍
We made it back to snowy Utah Valley after a two-day (one night) trip to Moab! Hayley, Ryan, and Porter joined us and brought their favourite camping foods including hot dogs and banana splits for dinner and pancakes the next morning for breakfast. They even grilled bacon in the hotel room! Today we braved the wind and hiked to Corona and Bow Tie Arches to celebrate President’s Day
Today is going to be craaaaaaaazy, but man, there’s a ton of chocolate, cake, and buttercream involved, so I guess it’s already a good kind of crazy.
This is a tree stump cake from nearly 3 years ago. There’s so much I want to change about it just by looking at it here. But it reminds me of a windy “Where the Wild Things Are” outdoor birthday party at a park for a 1 year old boy, surrounded by popsicles, cold fruit drinks, endless cake slices, and so much of our family chatting together under the pavilion. So with that memory in mind, it’s absolutely perfect in my book. Cake doesn’t have to be perfect - it’s the memory it perfectly creates that matters most. 😘 #bakingwithblondie
