(1) Weight loss is not linear. Some weeks you may lose weight and some weeks it may appear like you've gained weight. The key is to look at the average over an extended period.
____ (2) You should aim to lose fat and build/preserve muscle (yes, women too). Too many people stay on a restrictive diet for too long and end up losing muscle. Fat is 'bad' and muscle is good.
____ (3) It's not what you know it's what you do. Yes, you've read a million articles about weight loss. Yes, you've watched 1000s of videos about healthy eating. Yes, you have all the fancy exercise equipment and gadgets. It is not what you know or have. Weight loss only happens when you 'Do'. ____ (4) You will get better results following a average program 80% of the time than following the best program 10% of the time. Compliance and consistency is often the difference maker.
____ (5) All the worrying, wishing, and thinking in the world (and space) will not help you lose weight and keep it off. Set your goals, develop a plan, and get to work.
#Fbf#FlashbackFriday The moment you forget how far you’ve come, is the moment you throw away what defines you.🙏🏾 .
I remember this man very well, yet he seems like such a distant memory. Severely insecure & lacking confidence. Wore undershirts and tucked them into his pants to flatten his man boobs underneath his already baggy shirts. Gave fake smiles when in reality he felt horrendous. Constantly felt trapped inside of his skin with no way out. Ultimately, was a boy that didn’t know how to feel like a man. .
If this resonates with you, keep on reading. If it doesn’t, then you escaped a period in your life that I would never wish upon anyone .
Now, what is the biggest difference from this picture and where I am now? 100% mindset.🙇🏾♂️The thoughts we tell ourselves are what define us, and I put nothing but negativity, hate, and disdain out to the universe as to how I looked which translated into how I viewed myself. I also want to mention that I am in no way shape or form out of the woods when it comes to having complete confidence in who I am now, but the mindset shift I’ve had in regards to how I should feel, look, and talk to myself has changed tremendously. So for anyone out there struggling with self image, know that it’s more than weight, and the people you’re comparing yourself to are on their own journeys as well. Embrace who you are and how far you’ve come, no matter how small, large, or significant; It goes along way.

A big and happy Friday shout-out to
@ashleylindafit "I'm Ashley. I'm 30 year old girl from Chicago who has struggled with obesity since I was a child. My weight has fluctuated tremendously throughout the years from a healthy 165lbs in 2005 to 361lbs in 2016. I was diagnosed with PCOS and weight loss has been a struggle! After years of fad dieting, failed attempts at losing weight, and a bout of depression - I started my journey in 2017. I educated myself about nutrition and exercise to begin a healthy lifestyle. I am still transforming! I lost 65lbs in 2017 and set a goal to fit in my rose gold romper by the end of 2018!"
