Bodegas Palacio - Rioja Glorioso Reserva 1973
Our rating: 12/20
Start of my birthday week with this birthday wine. I have long give up hope to find anything interesting from France so trying other countries. Really sad that 1973 was such a bad year! Anyway, i bought this affordable bottle with low expectations and it ended up being better than expected. The cork was in great condition and the level was top. Absolutely no sediment at all: the wine was neat and clean. Sous-bois and tobacco on the nose. The palate is still supported by a bit of black fruit, with obviously tons of tertiary aromas. Quite balanced and velvety, no rough edges at all. Short and watery finish though. It was enjoyable to drink, but it is the end of the road for this Glorioso. Luckily, i am in much better shape than this wine! If you have tried some good 1973's, please let me know!!! 😊

Time to harvest Corvina grapes 🍇🍷
Amarone della Valpolicella is one of the most celebrated italian red wines and is the king in the Valpolicella region. It is made from the partially dried grapes grown in the rolling hills of the province of Verona. Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara are the main varieties used to produce this wine. Grapes are generally picked in mid October to ensure ripeness. Then, they are left all winter to dehydrated into raisins. The result is a powerful but elegant wine, dry and high in alcohol, with intense aromas that range from cherry to chocolate and licorice, have you tried it?
This beautiful vineyard is from @pasquawines
Apparently it's some kinda Champagne Day. If so, this post is a tribute to the rise of the grower-producers, like Bérêche et Fils. Barely existing 30 years ago because they just sold their fruit to major champagne houses, these artisanal wineries have dramatically changed the landscape of Champagne - much to the benefit of consumers. This Brut Réserve beautifully presents laser-focused fruit, acidity and terroir. Delicious. But seriously, every day should be Bubbly Day, right? 🍾😉
