Alpha Omega | 2014 | ERA | Cabernet Sauvignon | The flagship of @aowinery has always been a fun wine to taste, because it brings a bunch of single vineyards all into one blend and gives it quite a unique experience of a bottle that we've come to love every year. Notes of licorice, vanilla, blackberries, blue florals, plum, spice box, chocolate, red cherries, black currant, cedar and savory herbs. Rich dark fruit on the palate, yet will soft on the mouthfeel, but has a nice mineral note on the back palate. Medium acidity and round tannin structure on the finish, this isn't as complex as the single vineyards, but much more enjoyable out of the bottle right now. Enjoy over the next 10-15 years. | 94 points | $200 |
42 degrees here in Adelaide this Friday and nothing better than a chilled white wine from @peterlehmannwines. The 2016 H&V Eden Valley Pinot Gris is full of citrus flavour that makes this truly enjoyable on this scorching day.

Dirty lil bish with a sharp tongue. Rich hippie all boho and ragged from across the street but as she gets closer it's obvious her parents live in Mill Valley. And she has a Chase Sapphire Reserve. But the real reason I tried this wine? It's from my favorite town in the entire state of California. Yup, you read that right. And if you haven't been to Jenner, you haven't seen California. And there's a lot of girls in Jenner just like this one.

Roses + Lemon = A Very Happy Thursday Indeed (even at the office) 🍋
It is throwback Thursday.. Does this include throwing back a glass of wine? UH, I THINK SO! How else can we stay strong until Friday??? One our own labels! Straight outta Napa -Yummy Sauvignon Blanc, light with none of the nasty stuff that makes the next morning a headache.
Less than 1 g of sugar, nothing added but the grapes!
All these beautiful glasses will be waiting for you next Saturday (1/27) at our Mount Veeder Seminar. You can't miss this amazing tasting of library cabernet sauvignon with Tom Meadowcroft. #MeadowcroftWines
There are so many things we wish we knew when we first got into wine. Thankfully, we wrote down all our experiences about feeling unsure, overwhelmed, and how to ask for what we liked. (Learn from our mistakes via the link in the bio.) #wine101

When one of his best mates comes to town @johann_vanzyl goes into the wine collection.
In my glass: 2016 M. Chapoutier Belleruche Rosé Côte du Rhône. Strawberry & mineral dominate the aroma. Raspberry, Strawberry, and minerals in your mouth. Med body, great acidity. Great value Rosé. #rosé#Wine#winelover@mchapoutierauswinery
Woohoo another ground-breaking winery to be at The World of Wine Festival in May 2018!
Sadie Family Wines is headed by Eben Sadie who has gained a reputation across the world as an “outspoken, peripatetic, terrior-obsessed winemaker who has been instrumental in putting Swartland on the map”. The quote is accredited to leading wine-writer and respected wine critic Neal Martin who has consistently triumphed Sadie’s “cerebral wine built to age” and his dynamic portfolio of Rhone-based varieties.
Eben had been in the South African wine scene for quite some time but it was in 1999 that he stepped out solo, and it was with the first release of ‘Columella’ in 2000 that he acquired his reputation as “the most innovative and inspired winemaker in South Africa.” With over 53 different parcels of vines spread over 25ha and more grape varietals than you can shake a stick at, Sadie Family Wines are able to produce truly terroir-focused, top-quality small batch wines that prove to the world that interest and excellence can arise from South Africa’s wine scene. There is a strong focus on the Rhone varieties of Grenache and Syrah, yet he makes a name for himself by blending in numerous ‘rare’ grapes such as Assyrtiko, Greco, Grenache Gris, and more, into his world-famous red and white blends. Not just wines of place, these are wines of love and passion. Eben Sadie has thus far and shall continue to produce inspirational wines for all to share and love.

Dugat family can trace their winemaking roots in Gevrey-Chambertin to beginning of the 17th century. Farmed organically with miniscule yields and super old vines result in rich, opulent wines with silky texture and fine tannins. Fonteny 1er Cru vines were planted in 1965 in clay/limestone soil; 2009 is massive with dark berries & chocolate, roast coffee, cassis liqueur, tar and spices. A bit too flashy for my palate but nevertheless with undeniable panache😜🍷🍷🍷 #winestagram#winelover#sommelier#winetasting#winepairing#foodandwine#zagat#gevreychambertin#dugatpy

ZD Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 for the kill. I know I’ve mentioned how 2013 was a vintage for the books in regards to Napa Valley, however, this vintage does not fall short in its depth & beauty. Aromas of black cherry & plum tease the nose, with spice & tobacco joining in for the party on the palate. 🎉 Enjoyed this with a vegan creamy spinach pasta made by my one & only @nicholas_revis
If you like your wines big, bold, and red, #Nebbiolo needs to be on your radar. Hailing from Northern Italy’s Piedmont region, this grape is known for producing powerful, full-bodied, and mercilessly tannic wines—all while looking as pale as Pinot Noir! Over at the blog, we've got a quick, yet comprehensive read about the grape behind #Barolo and #Barbaresco. Enjoy! (Link in the bio.)

New World vs Old World Wine
Old World Wine: wines from countries or regions where winemaking (with Vitis vinifera grapes) first originated.
For example, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece and Germany are Old World wine countries that have made wine for thousands of years. Also, based on the definition, countries like Turkey, Georgia, Armenia and Moldova are Old World wine regions as well.
New World Wine: wines from countries or regions where winemaking (and Vitis vinifera grapes) were imported during and after the age of exploration.
For example, the United States, Australia, South Africa, Chile, Argentina and New Zealand are New World wine regions. Also, based on the definition, China, India and Japan are New World wine regions.

There is something inside me which can never say no to skin-contact Sauvignon Blanc...especially one as elegant as this.
Fruit from 30 years old vines that are mascerated on skin for about 3 weeks. Hauntingly beautiful with aromas of fresh yellow fruits and hints of herbal notes. Loved it!
#SeppMuster | "Grafin" | 2014 | 🇦🇹| #Steirerland | 🍇 #SauvignonBlanc | 🍷 #Zalto
In a “great” vintage, the Grand Vin of classified growths obviously shines. But the rising tide of that year also elevates the “second” wine immensely. E.g., this ‘00 Sarget de Gruaud-Larose from St. Julien. I would have chosen this over a “first” from a lesser vintage. Classic claret. Beautifully balanced in every way. Restores one’s commitment to cellaring great red wines.
