One day Chloe and I will live in a vineyard, but for now we will just settle for visiting as many as we can. Anyone else out there happiest when they are amongst the vines, or is it just us? 😂🍷🍇 (thanks to @heart.nature for the epic photography 😉)
Massolino estate was established in 1896, most of their vineyards are located in Serralunga one of the best Barolo sub regions. The soils there are renowned for producing brutally tannic, powerfully concentrated Barolos that are made for ageing. However progressively the styles have become more approachable in their youth.
This particular Nebbiolo is a declassified Barolo, the grapes that go into making this wine are from younger vines. Vines that will one day be used to make Barolos once they’ve reached the right level of maturity. It’s been aged in large botti for 12-18months (whereas their Barolos are aged for 2-5 years!) Superbly fragranced nose with intense aromas of red cherries, ripe strawberries, rose petal and wood spice. Very pure palate, fine silky tannins that builds slowly. This wine was clearly made for early enjoyment. Highly approachable now, with great balance of power and finesse. Drink this while you wait for your Barolos! It also comes in super lux and easy to open Stelvin closure. Great value at $50 from www.elvino.com.au/wine
What happens to the vines after harvest?? 🍇🌎🍷 Once the fruit is harvested and winter hits, the upright green shoots that held the leaves and the grape bunches turn into “one year old wood” and turn brown as the leaves fall off and die 🍂🍁. In the middle of winter ❄️ the vineyard team prunes the vines, a process that involves selectively cutting off the browned shoots to create shorter spurs, from which new green shoots will grow during the upcoming growing season. Once pruned correctly, the new shoots will be assured to grow in the right directions in order to produce healthy grape bunches the next year. Isn’t nature fascinating?? 🍇🌎🍷

Cheese platter goals 😍
Is there anything better than a delicious cheese spread to be paired with your favourite Plantagenet wine!? #plantagenet#plantagenetwines
I’m so tired right now 😞, did two workouts (gym/spinning) back to back, then had some wine because #winenot and I can’t keep my eyes open anymore...just wanted to check in before turning in 🙋🏻♀️ nite nite!
I can admit that this isn’t my most flattering photo, but that’s beside the point. The point is to Get In, Get Wine, and Get Social! It was here, at our company’s Vegas business trip, where true clarity of my vision for #hope🦋 and the #hopefoundation came to fruition 💜
And with your help, we can achieve great things and help a lot of people who thought that the specific help they need for counseling was out of reach. Let’s reach freedom together 🦋🦄🍷🦋🦄🍷🦋🦄🍷 #metoo#winebossorbust#platinumpinkypromise
Brrr! ❄️ We are seeing some light snow here in Seattle and wow, is it beautiful – I guess I’ll just bundle up in my warm sweater with a glass of wine. Wine from this beautiful bottle of Obscura Cabernet Sauvignon, from my faves over at @brightcellars. What a perfect way to end the day... with a Cab Sauv from California; it doesn’t get much better than this. Alright, so check back this weekend for some tasting notes (trust me, they’re gooooood). Cheers! #winewednesday#sommdays
Sometimes only #french will do. The AIX Rosé is a bit of a favourite around the #qantasepiqure office, particularly at 5pm on a Friday (or a Thursday).

There are more than 200 varieties of #Muscat, but only one is used to make Rutherglen Muscat: muscat a Petits Grains Rouge.
To make the world's richest wine you need ripe fruit. Very ripe fruit. As the grapes shrivel in the sun, sugar and acids concentrate and the grapes can reach 16-20 Baumé.
Rutherglen is rarely bottled as a single vintage wine. More often it's a blend of many vintage aged in the winery in a modified #solera system.
On the nose rose paddles, orange blossom. On the palate raisin, dried fruit, nuts. In older ones you get that distinct #rancio, lovely complex tertiary aromas. .

Hope everyone enjoyed their “Love Day” (aka: V-Day)!! Now, on to the best part of a day like Valentine’s Day – THE WINE! Although I’m not usually a super-fan of Carignan, Quinte Royals Queen of Hearts (from @brightcellars) has got it figured out. A lot of dark fruit flavors present in this 2016 vintage, like cherries and dried strawberries, with strong hints of earthy and spicy notes. I’ll admit, this is a “queen” wine, and I’d recommend it with 4/5 stars. ♥️ Cheers! #sommdays#weekendwine
P.S. my MIL got married this weekend (yay!), so check my IG stories for some wine recommendations from the wedding!
