Going to get a little raw and vulnerable in this post. But this has been weighing heavy on my heart lately as my pregnancy continues to progress as I’m 4 months today! Whoop!
I feel like having a “fit pregnancy,” which should be an incredibly healthy experience for mama and baby, is now placing unrealistic expectations on mothers and women.
As with any lifestyle, it’s so easy to compare your current situations to someone else’s and get discouraged. What we fail to see is the WHOLE picture of that person’s life.
We are only seeing a glimpse, and more often than not, those glimpses are the best of the best.
What should be a celebration of the growth of our bumps and the changes in our bodies, has now turned into comparisons, criticism, and judgment. Whether that’s comparing the size of our bumps, if you’re too big or too small, criticizing the amount of weight we gain based on how far along we are, or judging how fast we rebound after birth are the focus of how a “fit pregnancy” should be and look like.
These unsaid expectations steal the joy from making a miracle. Not to mention the negativity and shaming associated with pregnant Mamas working out!
With that being said, just remember entering into 2018...❤️
It’s OK to have a different bump size than another Mama.
It’s OK to see your chiseled abs and legs fade.
It’s OK to exercise! 🙏🏼🙌🏽
It’s OK to take it easy on days you don’t feel well.
It’s OK to feel like crap and not rave about how awesome pregnancy is 24/7.
It’s OK to not bounce back days after giving birth.
It’s okay to morn the changes that your body is going through and learn to embrace your new amazing body.
And it’s damn sure OK to gain weight and give into your cravings when needed.

I get a lot of messages from you guys asking about digestion. I'm definitely not a doctor and I don't have any serious known diseases that limit my digestion but I will say I am incredibly in tune with my body. Many of you want to know how you can become this in tune with your body as well. When you're consistent in what you do daily and do something differently one day and notice a symptom you can easily pinpoint what may have effected you. My best advice for people experiencing digestion issues is to focus on Whole Foods, eliminate heavy usage of any artificial sugars and research common food sensitivities to see if you can correlate any symptoms you may have experienced after consuming those. Please note everyone is different and what may cause me to bloat might not cause you to bloat
I follow flexible dieting but I tend to eat the same thing over and over so I don't have to think so much about what I'm going to eat the next day. With that being said my "staples" have been similar since around January and almost the exact same since June. Eating the same thing over and over again is actually a way to develop a food sensitivity believe it or not (and also another reason why I think I can't handle chicken and turkey anymore) 🙈This week my goal was to cut out processed carbs like breads, wraps and cereals and include more squash (borderline obsessed lol). I feel satisfied after I eat, and almost feel like I have more energy. Now I can't can't conclude that I have a sensitivity to breads but I can guesstimate that one of the processed ingredients in those breads were not benefiting me as much as my squash has! .... you get the jist? No need to go textbook elimination diet (if your issues aren't super serious), just play around with your food, switch it up, record what you ate/ drank if you are feeling super bloated one day! It's such a "freeing" feeling knowing what bloats you and what does not! #tiptuesday#shoulderday 😅
